Mitsui Chemicals acquires 10% stake in Belchim Crop Protection

Mitsui Chemicals said today that its subsidiary Mitsui Chemicals Agro, has acquired a 10% stake in the agricultural chemicals company Belchim Crop Protection (Londerzeel, Belgium). The two companies agreed on a business collaboration, which will reinforce their relationship by accelerating the development of products as well as introducing new products into the market. Belchim has been a distributor of Mitsui Chemicals Agro's products.

India commissions Dahej complex

ONGC Petro Additions (OPaL), has commissioned its mega petrochemical complex at Dahej, India and started production at some of the units, the company has announced. K. Satyanarayana, CEO of OPaL, said the polyethylene (PE) complex will also reach full capacity within a few months. OPaL is a joint venture between ONGC, Gail and Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. The olefins complex is designed to produce 1.1 MMt/y of ethylene, 400,000 metric tons/year of propylene as well as butadiene and benzene. OPaL has two 360,000 metric tons/year swing PE lines, capable of producing linear low-density and high-density PE (HDPE), one dedicated HDPE facility with capacity of 340,000 metric tons/year and a PP plant, also designed to produce 340,000 metric tons/year.
